Why an electrostatic precipitator cannot be bought off the shelf
Every ESP is engineered for a specific process: gas volume and temperature, dust composition and concentration, and the required cleaning efficiency under current environmental regulations. There is no universal ESP — a standard casing design is adapted to each site's parameters.
What goes into sizing an ESP for your process
A design engineer needs: gas flow volume and velocity (m³/h), inlet gas temperature and humidity, dust chemical and particle-size composition, dust resistivity, and the required outlet concentration.
From this data, the collecting area, number of electrical fields, power supply rating, and casing layout are calculated — directly determining both cost and final cleaning efficiency.
Manufacturing stages: from specification to commissioning
A typical cycle: data collection and technical specification → engineering (calculations, fabrication drawings) → manufacturing of casing structures, electrode fields, and hoppers → assembly of the electrical package (power supplies, controls) → factory testing → shipment and on-site installation → commissioning and ramp-up to design performance.
Lead time depends on size and configuration, but building in time for engineering and approvals is a required part of project planning, not a formality.
Refurbishing existing electrostatic precipitators
Many CIS-region plants still run Soviet-era ESPs at end of service life. A full replacement is not the only option — refurbishing electrode systems, upgrading to modern thyristor-based power supplies, and modernizing the rapping automation is often more cost- and downtime-efficient than replacing the whole casing.
Service and spare parts
An ESP is long-lived equipment (20+ years), and a manufacturer's service support and spare-parts stock (discharge and collecting electrodes, insulators, rapping components) directly affects production downtime during scheduled maintenance.
How to choose a manufacturer
Check whether the supplier has its own production capacity (not just intermediary sales), reference projects with similar gas-cleaning parameters, willingness to engineer a custom design rather than sell a generic unit, and warranty terms with local service coverage — for Kazakhstan and CIS plants, logistics and service response time matter as much as price.
