Equipment Installation and Commissioning on Site

Equipment delivered to site still has to be properly set, aligned, and brought up to working performance — here are the stages of installation and commissioning.

How equipment installation differs from structural steel erection

Erecting a load-bearing frame means setting and bracing structures per the design. Installing process equipment adds precise alignment of the machine relative to adjoining line components, drive and shaft alignment, and electrical and control connections. A mistake here immediately affects equipment performance, not just structural strength.

Setting on a foundation or support structure

Before setting the equipment, elevations and levelness of the foundation or support structure are checked, along with the position of anchor bolts and embedded plates. A level deviation directly affects the conveyor belt, screw, or rotor — so the survey check is done before fasteners are torqued, not after.

Coupling components and drive alignment

For conveyors, elevators, and feeders, drive-shaft-to-gearbox alignment, belt or chain tension, and idler-roller parallelism are all critical. For electrostatic precipitators, it is the precise relative position of discharge and collecting electrodes, which directly determines field uniformity and, with it, collection efficiency.

Electrical and controls

Power cables, sensors, and control panels are connected per the design, with checks on correct motor rotation direction, limit-switch operation, and safety interlocks — before material is fed into the line.

Commissioning works

After installation, equipment is run unloaded first — checking vibration, bearing temperature, and for any fouling or unusual noise. It is then started under load, ramping up to rated performance: conveyor throughput, ESP collection efficiency, feeder rate — with actual figures logged in a commissioning report.

Who performs the installation — an in-house crew or a contractor

Installation and commissioning performed by the equipment manufacturer's own crew removes any ambiguity in responsibility between the equipment supplier and an installation contractor if issues arise during the warranty period — specialists who know the equipment's internal design find the cause of start-up deviations faster than an outside crew would.

Need equipment installation and commissioning on site?

UK-ZTO-AN installs and commissions conveyors, elevators, feeders, and electrostatic precipitators with its own crews — with a site visit and a formal commissioning report.
